Keeping the average roofline free from dirt is a challenge for any homeowner, so spare a thought for the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, which has just received a special clean ahead of the centre’s 10th birthday.
It took a three-man team three days to clean the 38.8m high steel roof, which the centre reports has been dirtier in 2014 than in any previous year, due to lack of rain.
While the roof is always cleaned twice a year, it was felt that the forthcoming anniversary on 26th November warranted an “extra special clean” to show off the roof’s colour-changing properties, which are caused by a special coating used to protect the steel from the sea air.
During the cleaning process, the team took the opportunity to check the roof’s fastenings to make sure they are all intact.
