Twinson® Terrace decking from Deeplas has creating an uplifting finish for The Marina Cafe & Bistro in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Sitting alongside the beautiful River Avon, the cafe owner was looking for decking that had stunning looks, whilst having an ability to create a safe, low maintenance outdoor dining area.
Twinson® decking in Apricot Brown was specified and installed by Kent Building Plastics, because it was felt to be a tough, robust product that could stand up to the busy café environment. Just as importantly, it allowed the decking to be raised well above the river level to reduce the likelihood of flood waters reaching the seating area.
Made from a combination of wood and low maintenance PVC-U, Twinson Terrace® retains the natural warmth and appearance of timber, to create an attractive and practical outdoor dining area at the café.
Twinson® from Deeplas is available in eight colours, including Apricot Brown, which was chosen for this project because it complimented the glass and anodised aluminium material used on the balustrading as well as being sympathetic with the river bank scene.
The managers of the café liked that fact that the Twinson® decking gives them a practical yet attractive and easy to clean outdoor flooring that is extremely slip resistance. The Twinson® decking is used outside the café as well as for steps and slopes leading to the hairdressing saloon next door.
“The decking from Deeplas allowed us to elevate the outdoor dining area and that gave us a number of benefits,” said John Dews, owner of the site. “Firstly, it raised the structure out of reach of flood waters, whilst providing the café customers with a much better view on to the river. The Twinson decking has nearly doubled the number of covers that the café can now offer and that has made it very popular with customers and visitors to this beautiful part of the river Avon.”
Twinson® decking offers a high slip resistance even when wet and this was an important at the The Marina Café because of the proximity to water and overhanging vegetation. The end result is an outdoor dining and viewing platform that can be safely enjoyed by café customers of all abilities year-round.
“Our customers really like the Deeplas range of decking because it’s a great looking product that is low maintenance,” said Mike Kent, Director at Kent Building Plastics. “The fact that it’s really easy to install made it ideal for the café where their priority was to minimise disruption to trading.”
“The Marina Café demonstrates the many benefits available to customers who specify our Twinson® range of decking,” said Hazel Verschuere, Building Products Director at Deeplas. “I have seen the cafe myself and the new decking area looks superb and certainly seems to be appreciated by customers.”
